Wakey wakey! Kath’s dying to be heard
It was only a matter of time: Kathy’s doing a podcast.
It’s called Where There’s a Will, There’s a Wake and at the moment only the one-minute intro is available but we do have official blurb:
If you could plan your perfect death, what would you do?
If you were getting married you’d consult a wedding planner, who takes you through everything from what music you’re walking into, what flowers to buy and who you’re going to invite.
Now change the word “wedding” to “funeral”…
Kathy Burke is the host of the brand new podcast, ‘Where There’s a Will, There’s a Wake’, where she chats to her famous friends about their fantasy funeral.
Focussing a podcast about death could be a pretty morbid affair but Kath’s got two things going for her: one, she had a pretty close run-in with death a few years ago when she got a superbug, and that tends not to leave people; and two, she’s bloody funny.
And sure enough the listed guests so far also bring the funny: Dawn French, Diane Morgan, Jamali Maddix, James Acaster. Back to the blurb:
“It will be a hilarious, irreverent, dark and sometimes moving podcast with guests from the world of comedy, TV film and celebrity… guests will see their death brought to life as they plan their final day from dawn to dusk and into the afterlife.”
Update: There’s a video trailer too. Stewart Lee’s also a guest.
